.10 WAYS TO MINIMIZE STRESS AT HOME

1. TURN OFF THE TV

The negative images, the violence and the bombardment of information that is brought into our homes via the televisionnews and shows, helps to create stress in the home.

2. TURN ON THE MUSIC

Most people will agree that music is an effective mood changer.Listening to the music that relaxes you is a winner every time.

3. DELEGATE HOUSEHOLD CHORES

In many homes today, kids have no responsibility in the home. Delegating Household chores, ensures that you have help to complete the tasks more quickly, while teaching your kids a sense of responsibility and teamwork.

4. TAKE TIME TO MEDITATE

10-15 minutes of meditation provides focus and clarity at the start of your day. I find it also helps to bring discipline to other aspects of my life

5. MAKE TIME FOR PRAYER AND REFLECTION

Reflection and prayer are part of our spiritual development. It helps us in the quest of what we need to bring into our lives, and what we need to eliminate from our lives. As we find the answers deep within us, the stress diminishes.

6. CLAIM SOME ""ME"" TIME

We all need some quiet time, to do whatever is pleasing to us. It may simply be an hour for reading or gardening or doing needlepoint, or even tinkering with the old car in the yard...whatever pleases you. Do IT!!! You deserve your ""ME"" time.

7. HONOUR YOUR HEALTH

Taking care of your health through good diet and exercise, is key to minimizing stress, not just at home but in your life.

8. QUICK AND EASY MEALS

Reduce meal preparation time, by preparing nutritious meals that are easy to prepare. There are several websites that provide recipes for such meals. (See links below)

9. DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF

That book makes for good bedtime reading.

Truly, when you think about some of the things that get you so mad, it's just small stuff, so take a deep breathe, and get over it.....QUICK!

10. SPEND QUALITY TIME WITH YOUR FAMILY

Tomorrow is not promised to us. Whatever you have been promising to do with or for your family, make it a priority.....stop putting it off. Tomorrow may be too late. So scale down the plan if necessary, but do it. Many parents fail to realize that most kids would prefer to spend quality time with their parents rather than giving them all the latest electronic gadgets.

Glad u enjoyed the video...had to go look up samisen....three stringed lute. Now I even know what it sounds like....checked that out as well. Thanks for teaching me something new

Lovely hub with some very sensible advice. I find I hardly watch the news, anymore, because it's so negative, even though I used to be a big news junkie. These are all things I am trying to work on incorporating into my family's life, and it's definitely a work in progress. Take care!
